On Monday, Oct. 1 the Granite Hills girls’ tennis team continued to conquer their opponents in the East Sequoia League.

Defending their home courts, the Grizzlies swept away Orange Cove High School Titans 8-1. The Grizzlies have not yet lost a home match.

Although a difficult match was not expected, the Lady Grizzlies had to take the courst with a positive attitude and were able to win their matches. All but one singles matches were won leaving the score 5-1. Doubles took all the wins setting the overall score as 8-1.

"We never know what to expect when we play a new team, so we always have to come prepared with a good mind set and we did that successfully," said varsity player Lisa Yang.

The Granite Hills girls’ tennis team has had a very successful season with an overall score of 6-2 in the ESL.

"Our team really wants to take the lead in league. We need to work hard and cannot afford to lose another match," said varsity player Melissa Martinez.

The Granite Hills girls’ tennis varsity coach, Randy Smee, sees the hard work the girls put in during practices and encourages his Lady Grizzlies to continue to work hard towards a league title.

“These girls played very well against Orange Cove and I am proud of them,” said Smee.
