the way everyone talks about the girls soccer team makes them sound really good and can be a team to be scared about.

This year’s Grizzly girls’ soccer season is officially under way.
Most fall sports are now coming to a close and all the fall sports athletes now have the opportunity to transition into other sports. This will lead to bigger turnouts and more competition when fighting for a starting position.
Our Lady Grizzlies are pumped up to officially get their season underway. However, changing divisions is not something that the Lady Grizzlies are looking forward to. None the less, it still could work to the Grizzlies’ advantage.
“I feel upset that we wouldn’t be able to play Porterville and Monache. We can be just as good as them or even surpass them,” said returning sophomore Sabrina Provenzio.
There won’t be many varsity returners this year. Mellissa Martinez, Mercedes Steidly, Raquel Lopez, Crystal Chavez, Victoria Paz, Lourdes Bedolla, Yadira Figueroa, and Karina Tapia are this year’s key returning players.
The Lady Grizzlies will be facing smaller schools from lower divisions, many of which don’t get big numbers when it comes to tryouts. This will contribute to the Grizzlies success because of the amount of different things they can do when preparing for their games.
"I expect all freshmen and returners to play hard and to get more wins, I want a better season than last years," said Jazmin Perez.
Many of the returners will be new to varsity and will not have varsity experience. However, their star returner, Mercedes Steidley, who will be attending New Mexico Highlands University on an athletic scholarship, will be one of the main factors to the Grizzlies success this year.
Tryouts will begin on Monday on the Softball field afterschool. All girls are encouraged to go and tryout. This year’s soccer season will be a huge success and it will definitely be one for the books.
