Calling all Hunger Gamers! Go ahead and relax now, Hollywood didn’t ruin the best-selling novel The Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games exceeded expectations when it held top spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks earlier this year, according to “The Business Insider.”
“I liked the movie,” said sophomore, Kaylee Murillo, “but I liked the book better, books are always better than the movie. I think the characters did a great job though.”
With the help of “Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation,” producer, Gary Ross, turned this best-selling, young adult, trilogy into a successful movie. Ross even called in the author of The Hunger Games, Susanne Collins, to help with the script writing. This insured Ross to deliver the movie to his audience the way it was intended.
"I loved The Hunger Games,” said junior Lilly Mejia. “I saw it with my friend the first week it came out.”
The Hunger Games came to theaters on March 23 and came out on DVD and Blu-ray Aug. 18. The film continues to shatter records after “Lionsgate” announced it sold 3.8 million DVD and Blu-ray copies in one weekend.
“I watched the movie on March 27 and I really liked it,” said sophmore Kyle Norman, “I liked the book better than the movie, personally because a book can get in more detail. It was still really good it’s just you can’t fit that much depth into a two hour movie.”
The next movie of the trilogy, “Catching Fire,” is scheduled to come to theaters Nov. 22, 2013.
“My favorite part was when Katniss made the alliance with Rue,” said Mejia, “but it was just so nerve racking when she died. I can’t wait for the next movie."

i love the movie, i still continue to watch it literally every night. there were a couple things they left out, but since they kept most things in the movie, its ok. they didnt finnish the song though, the song that was in the book, i think its called "deep in the meadow". oh and theres a song on the soundtrack that is awesome, "safe and sound" by taylor swift

I really did enjoy reading the book. But, the movie was just the icing on top of the cake. The two aren't even in the same tier when it comes to entertainment. The book was obviously more vivid and complex than the movie. And we all know how movies leave out some minor details that die hard fans love so much. Other than that, this a great article!!
