Zonta Club is a community service club that is sponsored by Zonta International to help advance the status of women worldwide.
Z-Club’s goal is to get students to actively participate in local, nationwide, and international projects.
“Z-Club provides an amazing opportunity for our students to help people within our community and simultaneously realize that by even the seemingly smallest of gestures, they can brighten and change the lives of others,” said Z-Club advisor, Tiffany Ross.
On Tuesday Oct. 30, Z-Club members threw a Halloween party for those living in the Porterville’s local women shelter. Year after year, the Z-Club members help makes Halloween a fun, relaxing event for the women shelter.
A group of Granite Hills Z-Club members met at a local church at 4:30 p.m. to set up and decorate for the party. Z-Club officers had been planning the Halloween party for months and were responsible for coming up with the games, activities, and goodie bags for the children.
The church was decorated with orange and black. Decorative centerpieces were used on the tables and Halloween signs covered the walls. Over 20 women and their children from the shelter participated in the activities which included: musical chairs, Simon says, red light green light, arts and crafts, cupcake decorating, and face painting. There were also several seasonal games such as: pumpkin bowling, pin the nose on the pumpkin, and spider darts.
“Interacting with the kids is always so rewarding,” said Z-Club treasurer Jose Gonzalez. “Seeing their faces light up makes all of our hard work worth it.”
All Z-Club members were asked to contribute small items in order to provide Halloween goodie bags for each child. They received seasonal pencils, erasers, toys, rings, stickers, and candy. Zonta member and Z-Club liaison for Granite Hills, Denise Marchant, provided a vegetable tray, chips and dip, cookies, popcorn, and drinks for the guests.
“It was fun to see all the kids play around and enjoy themselves,” said senior Luciano Moreno. “This was my first time working at the party and I had a great time.”

it was a good idea to organize the z-club. they must have had a good time. i am not sure but i think i'll find a way to join the z-club

I think that Z-Club is a great club because advancing the status of women worldwide would help get more women to get out into the world and do bigger things.

That's something special to do for those kids.They probally had a lot of fun in that halloween party.
