The API stands for Academic Performance Index and it is represented by a number that indicates the school growth in academic achievement.
Granite Hills High school will be celebrating the impressive 45 point gain on the API score.
This year the Granite Hills High School administration team, MECHA Club, Student Council and a few other clubs will be holding an academic achievement celebration on campus in order to celebrate the impressive grizzly accomplishment.
“We had an extraordinary growth especially compared to the growth of other high schools with demographics similar to ours,” said Magdalena Sanchez, Assistant principal at Granite Hills High school, “ we feel like the students deserve to celebrate this impressive success, that is the reason why we are holding this celebration.”
The celebration will take place on Oct. 25 at Granite’s Amphitheater from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m
“This remarkable achievement guarantees that nobody will doubt that we have great staff and students and that we are capable of succeeding academically,” said Bailey Ross.
During the event, there will be food, music, and activities. Some of the activities include a rock climbing wall, pull-up bars, and zumba dancing instructed by the Granite Hills’ dance instructor John Gonzales. There will also be videogames in the cafeteria and movies playing in rooms 205 and 206. Teacher’s classrooms will also be open for students to take shelter in a quiet place.
The food will include two tacos and a drink that students get by turning in a ticket.
“This celebration is a great idea,” said Juan Avila, “It will motivate the freshmen to try hard on their CST’s and achieve an equally amazing growth for next year.”
Special guests include Assemblywoman Connie Conway, school board members, members of the two advisory pathways and of course, the wonderful Grizzly parents.
“We want to recognize the parents for their contribution to their kids’ success,” said Sanchez.
The celebration will be dedicated to students, teachers and the entire school personal. Freshman and new staff members will also be invited to encourage amazing growth for the years to come.
