Spirit takes a turn for the worst

A change in seating arrangements at Grizzly football games has contributed to a new controversy.
With the football team being blamed for the switch to the new East Sequoia league, tension keeps on building.
At the Cesar Chavez football game, the Grizzly marching band walked out to stands to set up for the game, but band members were surprised when the Spirit club and a few fans were sitting in the area that band usually sat. The group of fans kindly moved and the band took their place in the stands, but the damage was already done, and the feeling of not being appreciated was universally felt throughout the musical group.
Eric Garcia, the parade drum major commented, “I think what bothers the band, is not where we were moved, but the fact that [someone] made changes without anybody knowing.” Garcia later stated, “They decided that the band could just be put to the side. Obviously they have no consideration and they don’t see the importance of our hard work.”
After speaking to Natasha Efseaff, spirit club adviser, about the encounter, she stated "We were just doing what we were told."
The center section of bleachers had previously been deemed the student section until last school year when the section and the band seating was switched. The spirit club moved without making a "stink," but was left with the same feeling as the band.
After many complaints from parents, Apolinar Marroquin, the new principal at Granite Hills, went in to speak to the band student during their third period class.
He expressed his understanding of the band and how proud he was of their success, but he asked that they understand the reasons behind the move.
Head football coach David Coldiron and assistant coach Mark Salazar stated that their heads are fully in the game and neither care about who sits where. Having fans in the stands is what is important.
The spirit club will be sitting in the student section which is in the center of the stands, with the band to the side. This seating will be enforced at games until further notice.
Ormonde declined to comment.

I don't really care about who sits where but i do think its weird to move a the band who stays through the whole game and who is bigger than 15 people. by the end of the 3rd quarter there is about 8 people from spirit club left. but hey whats done is done right

i think it was pretty strange that the band had to move for 15 ? 20? but whats done is done i guess

I agree with coach Coldiron, why should it matter where the band is seated? They are greatly appreciated and loved no matter where they are. Yes they may be use to that area but sometimes things change and you just have to make due.

Okay, please don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think it should really matter where who sits where. Especially because sadly, not as many people come to home football games. I feel that more students and parents should come out and support our Football team!
But just to throw it out there, most high school bands sit at the 40 yard line, and from experience, when the band is beneath the press box, it is difficult for fans to watch the game, especially because there are a lot more of them compared to our spirit section.
But like I said, I am not siding with anyone, but I feel there can be a compromise, and whatever happens, happens.
