Who wants to make this year the best? Well, you can! Class elections are right around the corner and it’s your choice to determine which Grizzlies run your school!
The Granite Hills class election campaigns will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
“This year’s elections are going to be awesome! I had to make double the copies,” said new Associated Student Body advisor Kelsey Simpson, “I’m really excited to give them a chance to be a part of their class and get involved.”
Madison Rice, Juan Jaimez, and Maria Corona are running for senior class president. Milton Ramirez and Carina Felix are running for senior vice president. Seniors Berenice Contreras and Mayra Puente are running for secretary and treasurer.
"I think Maddy is going to take it! she is a very well educated girl, she’s gorgeous and extremely talented and very well known," said senior A.J. Guerrero.
This year, for the junior class, Jessica Campos, Ronnie Songthiamphone, and Janely Cerda are running for junior class president. The junior class president will be the student responsible for setting up the 2012-13 Prom. Juniors Cynthia Alvarado and Austin Thao are running for junior vice president. Madison Stubbs is running for secretary and Mariela Madrigal is running for treasurer.
The sophomore class will take a less competitive approach toward class elections this year. Sophomore Jed Hackett is running for sophomore class president and alongside him is sophomore Sarah Vehrs running for vice president. Cameron Anderson is running for secretary and Kyle Norman for treasurer.
This year, the freshman president candidates include: Laly Robles, Jorge Flores, and Viviana Ramos. Freshman Celeste Armenta is running for vice president, while Lizeth Saucedo is running for secretary and Brandon Trice for treasurer.
Most of the students already have in mind who they want to win.
"Well, Janely and Jessica are BOTH my friends...," said junior, Emily Banuelos, " but I'd have to say Janely!!"
Other students are just excited for the new year.
"Yes I am excited, I am more aware of what is happening in our class," said senior Danny Jacuinde, "and all of the candidates are really responsible people that can be trusted."
Voting will be held this Friday, Sept. 7. Each student will only elect members of their class and the winners will be announced at the end of the day.

This is a really great article! It had enough information to let students know what's going on around campus.
