The Tulare County Fair, which ran from Sept. 12 through Sept. 16 at the Tualre County Fairgrounds, entertained county residents with games, pony rides, carnival attractions, and, of course, a variety of show animals.

“Honestly, I love the fair in general,” stated senior Toni Lopez, “and the fact that Jose did such an extraordinary job just made the fair that much more enjoyable for all of Granite’s student body.”

Savannah Pipkin, a senior from Granite Hills, also entered the fair, but could not show her animal, due to the death of her pig.

“Though I had tons of fun at the fair with Ms. Collar and Jose, I still wish I would’ve been able to show [my pig],” stated Pipkin.

With the endless baaas, moos, oinks, and croaks, the show barn served as Solis's showmanship and market ring.

Solis’ confidently entered the show ring, and prevailed as one of the top exhibitors in the market.

Solis competed in novice group B for showmanship and placed third, advancing him to novice finals.

In the novice market class Solis won his class with his crossbred lamb, an outstanding accomplishment for a first time exhibitor. From there, Solis went to champion drive, where he placed in the top twelve for crossbred lambs.

Solis left the Tulare County Fair with a first place ribbon and the intent to improve his showmanship skills and work harder for the Porterville Fair.
